If fall at Walt Disney World Resort is on your family’s radar, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is one of the first things worth understanding, and that is true whether you plan to attend or not.

This is one of the most popular separately ticketed events of the year and it affects Magic Kingdom park planning for everyone visiting in the fall, not just party guests. Here is everything you need to know.

What is Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party?

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is a separately ticketed after-hours event held at Magic Kingdom park on select nights from August through October. It is not included with regular park admission. Tickets must be purchased in addition to any park ticket.

The party runs from 7:00 PM to midnight (subject to change), but guests with event tickets can enter Magic Kingdom park as early as 4:00 PM, giving you up to eight hours to experience everything the party has to offer.

2026 Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Dates

The party runs from August 7 to October 31, 2026, on select nights. Not every night in that window is a party night, so checking the specific calendar before booking your trip is essential.

Party nights generally fall on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays in August and September, with October adding more frequent dates including most Thursdays, Fridays, Sundays, and Tuesdays leading up to Halloween night on October 31.

When Do Tickets Go on Sale?

Guests of select Walt Disney World Resort hotels can purchase tickets beginning May 5, 2026, for event dates during their stay. All other guests may purchase tickets beginning May 12, 2026.

This early access window applies to guests staying at Disney Resort Collection hotels, Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotels, and Shades of Green. It is one of the real perks of staying on property that most families do not know about until it is too late.

Party dates sell out. This is not an exaggeration. Popular October dates in particular can be gone within days of tickets going on sale. If this party is on your list, planning early is not optional.

What Is Included in the Party?

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party offers experiences that are not available during regular park hours. Here is what guests can expect in 2026:

Trick or Treating Over a dozen candy collection locations are spread throughout Magic Kingdom park. Every guest receives a complimentary treat bag and costumes are encouraged but not required to collect candy.

Mickey’s Boo-to-You Halloween Parade This beloved parade features Mickey, Minnie and their friends in Halloween costumes alongside waltzing ghosts, Disney Princesses and Disney Villains. In 2026 the parade takes place at 8:15 PM.

Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular The Sanderson Sisters return to the Cinderella Castle Stage for this fan-favorite show featuring Disney Villains including Hades, Cruella De Vil, Jafar, Dr. Facilier and The Evil Queen.

Disney’s Not So Spooky Spectacular Jack Skellington hosts a spooky fireworks and projection show that transforms Cinderella Castle into a haunted house. This nighttime spectacular is one of the most visually stunning experiences at the party.

New in 2026: A Masquerade with Stitch  Stitch is hosting an ever-changing masquerade at Rockettower Plaza Stage in Tomorrowland alongside Lilo and Angel, with every accessory from Lilo’s Costume Trunk sparking a theme swap that keeps the party unpredictable all night long.

Exclusive Character Greetings Party nights feature character meet and greets that are not available during regular park hours, including Sally and Jack Skellington, Mickey and Minnie in Halloween costumes, and Disney Villains appearing throughout the park.

Attractions with a Halloween Twist Several attractions receive special overlays during the party including Space Mountain in complete darkness with spooky music and Mad Tea Party with special lighting effects.

Why Non-Party Guests Need to Know These Dates Too

This is the part most families overlook entirely and it can significantly affect your Walt Disney World Resort trip if you are not aware of it.

On party nights, Magic Kingdom park closes to day guests earlier than usual to prepare for the event. Magic Kingdom park is setting a 6:00 PM closing time on party nights beginning in August 2026. If you are visiting Magic Kingdom on a party night without a party ticket you will need to exit the park by that time.

This matters for your planning in a few specific ways:

  • If you are visiting Magic Kingdom on a party night without a ticket, plan for a shorter park day and prioritize your must-do attractions in the morning and early afternoon.
  • If you want a full evening in Magic Kingdom, either purchase a party ticket or choose a non-party night for your visit.
  • If your travel dates overlap with multiple party nights, knowing the calendar helps you make smarter decisions about which day to visit Magic Kingdom and which days to spend at EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios or Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Is Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Worth It?

For families who love Halloween, character meets, and the kind of experiences you simply cannot get during regular park hours, the answer is usually yes. The parade, the Hocus Pocus show, the trick or treating and the exclusive character greetings create a night that feels completely different from a regular Magic Kingdom day.

For families with very young children or those on a tighter budget, it is worth weighing whether the additional cost makes sense for your specific trip. The party is a wonderful experience but it is also an add-on to what is already a significant vacation investment.

The families I work with who attend the party almost always tell me afterward it was one of the highlights of their trip. The ones who skip it but plan their park days around the party calendar have equally smooth experiences because they knew what to expect going in.

Either way, knowing the dates exist is half the battle.
